FINALLY!!!

Well here she is, my "I'm All Heart" doll I started in September for Magic, Mischief, and Mayhem. Di McDonald taught this wonderful doll---Thanks Di.
I had originally intended to make her for my daughter, but after the colors grew more and more vivid, I decided she would go much better with my little sister's decor-LOL!!! So, of course I'll have to make another for my sweetie. Hers will be shades of pinks and purples.

Enjoy!

Vegas Artist finishes her "spin" on Nissa

has finished her Gorgeous doll from my Nissa class. Maurine is a Brilliant fiber artist and she wanted to put her own "spin" on this design. Instead of the mosaic base, she created one from a cone of yarn. Isn't she just Darling!!! I LOVE HER!!!

Maurine-she makes me smile each time I look at her.

A million thank-yous for sharing her with me.

What I've Been Up To---

Aldora ©
“A Winged Gift”
Natalie Hamade

A unique design consisting of a variety of mixed media.
Paints, pastels, pencils, pigma, polymer clay, fabric, Tyvek, felt, cheesecloth, tissue paper, decoupage, Apoxy Sculpt, & sealers.
Aldora is a splendid cocooned doll measuring approximately 13”. Sewn from a simple shape, her head is made of polymer clay, covered in fabric and hand painted. Layers of tissue paper and paint are decoupaged onto the fabric body. Aldora is displayed in a suspended cone of Tyvek, cheesecloth, and felt. Hand painted cheesecloth dipped in Mod Podge and tied to an Apoxy branch serves as a wonderful nesting home for Aldora

I'm BACK!!!!!!!!

I had an absolutely Fabulous time teaching in Vegas. The Ladies were so nice and thoughtful, I dreaded having to leave.
The work they produced in only a few days, left even me in awe. I found myself teary-eyed more than once as I held each little painted head in my hand. The elaborate mosaic bases were breathtaking. Most had never worked with mosaics and all said they enjoyed it and will likely tile again.
The first 2 days of class seemed to fly by, lots to do with the sculpting and painting of the face, and the Apoxy sculpt. Sure wish they would have been able to finish the apoxy, but these ladies are even more particular than I am. Most have worked with this awesome product and wanted to keep adding more and more detail---AND hey, I'm not one to argue-LOL!!! Thank goodness I kept the costuming VERY simple and they were dressing their dolls faster than I could read. Oh my, speaking of costumes, I could not believe the fabrics these ladies chose---loved them all. I cannot wait to see all of these dolls completed. Unfortunately, pictures do not do them justice. They do however, offer you a glimpse of this intense process and give me a most sentimental keepsake of both the doll and the doll maker.
Fran and her husband Ken, made my stay a most memorable one. They made me feel right at home, and are so similar to my family, that I felt I was amongst my own relatives.
Thanks to Each and Every Wonderful Doll Maker I met this past weekend---I'll cherish this experience forever...

ViVa Las VegaS!!!

One week and counting. Next Thursday I'll be heading to Las Vegas to teach my very first workshop. I can hardly wait!!!
The group I'm teaching, are Fabulous artists and a bunch of good sports too. You see, no one knew what I had up my sleeve, or should I say, under Nissa's skirt until they received their pre-work assignment. Needless to say, they are trying something they've not tried before---creating a doll base adorned with gorgeous mosaics.
So this will be the last post until I return on the 27th. Hopefully I'll have LOTS of pictures to share. Stay Tuned!!!

Not ready to 'let go'

"Fairy Couture"
I created this doll using 2 patterns by Patti Medaris Culea. This past weekend my Mom was in town and as usual she BEGGED me to let her have this doll. I laughed and shook my head and said, 'I just can't let her go'. I don't know what it is with this fairy, but I Love everything about her. She's one work I think I'll keep Forever...

A Fun Pin Cushion!!!

While browsing the Internet and blogs the past few days, I came across Colleen Babcock's blog and loved it. She makes very beautiful dolls, quite similar to those created by Patti Culea. Her color combinations are superb.
Anyway, I dug into her archives and discovered "Pinelope" a FREE pin cushion pattern and I just HAD to make her. These are photos of my finished piece.
If you would like to make one of these charming pin cushions for yourself or a friend, check out Colleen's blog
You'll be happy you did...

Thanks Colleen!!!!!!!!!!

SweeT PoTaTo on eBay

Sherry Goshon did it again. She designed another whimsical Elfin pattern. This one is tall and skinny compared to the one I used for the challenge. I opted to create this elf from paper instead of fabric; added a dress, a sweet potato hat, some brads, and a hanger on back for a OOAK, articulated paper doll.

Busy!

"Tail of the Sea"
"Tail of the Sea"
Where does the time go? My goodness, this week flew by. I have been busy keeping up with emails and running my online marotte class. Things are going quite well. YAY!!!
I did manage to get a couple of ATC's finished for another swap. Both are titled: "Tail of the Sea". I created these gals with watercolors, acrylic, and ink. I really like how they turned out. I never thought a simple sketch I did (very late) the other night, would look this nice once painted. Hope my swap partners are equally pleased.

"Stars"
"Hearts"
A couple of ATC's I made for a watercolor swap for the online group, "The Embellished Circus".
